Pile Driving Work to Commence at Site of Cruise Terminal 2 on Water Street

Saint John (NB)� Construction work on the site of the second cruise terminal building will commence on Thursday, December 1, 2011 in the mid-afternoon. Work will take place Monday through Friday during normal daylight hours and is expected to be complete by Christmas.

Community Leaders Rally Citizens to Vote for the Bay of Fundy in Global Contest

Saint John (NB)� As the final days voting in the New 7 Wonders of Nature campaign draw nearer, Trevor Holder, Minister of Tourism and Parks joins Mayors Ivan Court, Grace Losier, Bill Bishop, Murray Driscoll and Ken Chorley in urging citizens to vote for the Bay of Fundy as Canada�s only finalist in this global contest.

Our beloved Bay of Fundy, a natural wonder on the doorstep of Saint John with tourism impact along the Southern coast of New Brunswick, has an opportunity to win this campaign with the help of all citizens living in Greater Saint John and indeed all of New Brunswick.

Aside from the tremendous and immediate value a win would bring to community spirit in this region, sustained promotion of the Bay of Fundy from such a win is expected to significantly impact growth in tourism providing future employment opportunities for the long-term. For these reasons community leaders are banding together to urge greater Saint Johners and, indeed, all New Brunswickers to vote.

Voting is not age restricted and may be done three ways but must occur by November 11:

� Vote by text by entering the �short code� 77077 and text the word FUNDY in English or BAIE in French to that number. (Note: Text voting may occur as often as the user likes but standard 0.25 cent/per text fee applies).

� Or vote on Facebook by joining the campaign through votemyfundy.com

In support of voting for the Bay of Fundy, a �Greater Saint John Votes for Fundy� Event will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 11:30 am � 1:30 pm at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal at 111 Water Street with Minister Holder and the regional Mayors casting their votes at Noon. A BBQ will add to the festive atmosphere for this event.

Citizens living in Greater Saint John, or beyond, are encouraged to drop by the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal on November 9^th to join Minister Holder and the Mayors as well as cast their own votes at one of the voting booths which will be on-site.

Saint John Set to Welcome Over 200 Travel Agents Onboard MSC Poesia on October 25

Saint John (NB) � More than 200 travel agents will visit Saint John onboard the MSC Poesia during the ship�s call on October 25, 2011.

The travel agents are part of the National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA), an association which represents the interests of home-based travel entrepreneurs, a growing sector of the travel industry and important distribution channel for cruise lines.

The Bay of Fundy Partnership (Saint John Port Authority, Discover Saint John and the Province of New Brunswick) together with MSC Cruises will host a reception onboard the vessel to showcase Saint John, the Bay of Fundy and the 7 Wonders of Nature Competition. The agents will also be offered the opportunity to ride the Big Pink Sightseeing Buses to explore Saint John.

�Showcasing the magnificent tourism product in Saint John and the Bay of Fundy to these travel agents, who not only represent this line but also many of the worlds� other leading lines, is an opportunity that we could not miss,� enthused Jim Quinn, President & CEO of Saint John Port Authority. �We are especially pleased to host these special guests together with our tourism partners who have been integral in growing the cruise industry here.�

October 25 also marks the final cruise ship day in Saint John for the 2011 season and is a triple ship day with MSC Poesia at Pugsley C, Caribbean Princess at Marco Polo Cruise Terminal and Jewel of the Seas at Long Wharf. Port of Saint John Hosts Two Inaugural Cruise Ship Calls This Week

Saint John (NB) � The Port of Saint John welcomes two new cruise lines to the port Tuesday and Wednesday as the 2011 season winds down.

On Tuesday (October 18), MSC�s Poesia with a capacity of 3000 passengers will make her first visit to Saint John arriving at 8 am and departing at 5 pm. MSC Poesia will dock at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal.

The next morning on Wednesday (October 19) Oceania Cruises� Regatta, with a capacity of over 680 passengers, will arrive at Noon and depart at 7 pm. Regatta will be berthed at Long Wharf as Caribbean Princess will be berthed at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal on this same date.

�We are pleased to welcome these two new lines to the Port of Saint John and we trust that the strong tourism product our partners have developed both in historic Uptown Saint John and the broader Fundy region will ensure their guests have a highly enjoyable experience,� stated Jim Quinn, President & CEO.

After Wednesday, the remaining 5 cruise ships for the 2011 season are due on October 20, 23 and 25 with October 25 being a triple cruise ship day and the close of the season. Final statistics for the 2011 cruise season will be available in the coming weeks.

Update - Third Cruise Ship Cancellation Due to Weather

Saint John (NB) � Saint John Port Authority officials further advised that after reviewing weather conditions and discussion at the pilot station in the outer harbour, the Norwegian Jewel with a capacity of 2,300 passengers, has also cancelled its call in Saint John for today (October 5) due to inclement weather.

Norwegian Jewel joins Caribbean Princess (capacity 3100 passengers) and Regatta (capacity 680 passengers) who both cancelled earlier in the morning.

These cancellations are due to weather conditions currently being experienced or expected in the North Atlantic.

�While we regret the loss of these two calls, certainly the safety and comfort of passengers and the ship were of primary import to these Captains when determining if the visits would move forward,� commented Jim Quinn. �Decisions such as these are made with the best information available at the time�.
