Saint John has the distinct honor of boasting the first "Meet and Greet Program" in Canada-New England. Local volunteers personally greet each female cruise ship passenger with a rose, a pin for the men, and a flag for each child. Located both on the cruise terminal and in designated areas in Uptown Saint John, these dedicated volunteers also provide passengers with information about our city.
In 2001 this program was recognized for tourism innovation in customer service and community development. In 1998,the Meet & Greet Committee was presented the President's Award at the Saint John Board Of Trade's annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards Dinner. This group literally rolls out the red carpet to welcome cruise visitors!
